The ABI 3900 oligonucleotide synthesizer is a high throughput system: 48 oligonucleotides can be synthesized in parallel, from 10 nanomol to 1 micromol scales with length above 50 mers. The cycle time is less than 5 minutes for 48 couplings.
The instrument has 14 amidite positions located in the front panel to be easily accessible. Reagents are positioned are on the side panel with 2 x 450ml reservoirs for each ancillary reagent. One 2 liters bottle for Deblock and 2 x 4 liter bottles for acetonitrile are aside the synthesizer. The waste container is a 20 liter container.
